We came up with the idea as the COVID pandemic started when we realized how deeply it was affecting the community. We wanted to create an archive of stories that would preserve this unprecedented moment in history in a way that was meaningful locally. While the first series focused on COVID stories, the vision is to continue the podcast and begin featuring other topics such as public art, social services programs, human interest stories and economic development initiatives.
Stories are a powerful means of connecting people and podcasts are increasingly becoming the platform of choice for sharing stories. Baytown deserves to have its story told by a diverse group of community members. Not only do we see the podcast as a way to let people know what is happening in the community, we also hope it fosters a deeper sense of connection among everyone who lives and works here.
