Baytown Serves is a City initiative that seeks to meet community needs by developing City department opportunities, connecting volunteers and organizations with projects, and partnering with local nonprofits to expand their reach.

Upcoming Featured Events
- MLK Day of Service at United Way; January 16; 11 AM - 2 PM; Prepare and deliver homeless outreach kits or organize and restock the little free libraries. All supplies provided - they just need you!
- Special Olympics Regional Table Tennis; February 4th; The Regional Table Tennis Tournament will be held on Saturday, February 4th, 2023 at Stephen F. Austin Elementary- 3022 Massey Tompkins Rd, Baytown, TX 77521. Individuals ages 8-14 can serve with a chaperone and anyone over the age of 15 can serve by themselves. Volunteer opportunities include setting up, assisting with awards, scorekeeping, traffic flow, and take down.
Beautification
- Adopt-a-Spot: Litter abatement program perfect for groups and businesses with more than 8 volunteers.
- Neighborhood Adopt-a-Spot: Pick up litter during your daily walk or while exploring a new neighborhood! It’s as easy as choosing where and when you want to pick up litter and submitting a picture after your adventure. This project can be done on your own time, by yourself or with family.
- As needed beautification: Weeding, planting, small-scale litter cleanup
Community Outreach/Education
- Perfect Trail Volunteer: Enjoy one of the most popular parks in the City of Baytown and receive volunteer hours! Volunteers will be asked to walk the trail within Jenkins and Holloway Park and then complete two short surveys. These surveys will be used by our teams to expand the project and continue to bring safety, ease of use, and consistency to all City of Baytown Parks.
- Baytown Tourism: The Heart of Baytown Volunteers/Docents will act as guides for visitors to the Brunson Theater, teaching about Baytown history and providing Baytown recommendations.
- Sterling Municipal Library Teen Volunteers: Teens, age 13-18, can help create displays, put together takeaway crafts and programs, and even decorate for events. APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR SPRING VOLUNTEERS UNTIL JANUARY 6, 2023.
- Baytown Police Department: Volunteers, ages 18+, can learn more about the police department and actively serve as a volunteer in the community through opportunities such as the Citizens Police Academy, Citizens on Patrol, and more!
- Baytown Fire Department: Get more involved in public safety by joining the volunteer Community Emergency Response Team, training to the general public and residents about disaster preparedness, response skills, and fire safety, or the Baytown Fire Explorers, career training and development in the Fire and EMS industry for individuals ages 14-20 as part of a partnership with the Boy Scouts of America.
Environmental and Animals
- Baytown Nature Center & Wetlands and Education Center: Volunteers will be leading field trips, teaching programs, and assisting with events. Due to required training, this is ideal for volunteer seeking a longer volunteer opportunity.
- City of Baytown Animal Services and Adoption Center: Volunteers will assist with enrichment activities, such as walking or playing, cleaning dog and cat kennels, and participating in Animal Services events. Due to required training, this opportunity is ideal for volunteers seeking a longer or more frequent commitment. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and parental consent is required for minors.
